There were a couple guys from a fish monger in Newcastle going door to door in Hampstead today selling fresh fish. They had almost any kind you could imagine... cod, halibut, john dory, sea bass, salmon, sole, haddock. For those of you who have been in the grocery stores around me, you would understand that this was an offer I couldn't refuse. The catch (no pun intended) is that the smallest amount you can buy is 7.5 kilos (or 16.5 lbs). So I stocked up on 5 kgs of wild salmon (caught yesterday) and 2.5 kgs of lemon sole. Our freezer is now full of some yummy looking fish, which the guy said would stay good for six months. And when he was carrying the salmon from the truck to our house, some lady walked by saw how good it looked and bought 20 kgs on the spot... 580 pounds worth!
